Join FilAm Creative (FAC) and TAYO Literary Magazine for SoCal’s hottest party of the month! FAC’s 13th of the Month Thing is your opportunity to have a great time while meeting the FilAm entertainment and media industry’s creatives. August spotlights authors, poets, and artists!

THIS MONTH: Beach Day & TAYO Reading!
(free event, donations to TAYO or FAC welcome)

FilAm Creative is partnering with TAYO Literary Magazine to produce their 2nd annual Beach Day & TAYO Reading. Bring your sunscreen and towel, but also get ready to meet many of the best artists on the scene today! Writers, spoken-word, and other artists are welcome to bring their work to display, exhibit, or perform.

TAYO board members will be present to accept submissions or answer any questions about their upcoming 3rd anniversary issue. Additionally, FAC board members will be on hand to share future volunteering opportunities and other ways to get involved with FilAm Creative.

There’s a party every 13th!! Join us every month to make new friends, get involved with the Filipino American community, and to have fun!

FIlAm Creative is a group of filmmakers, writers, artists, photographers, actors, musicians, models, comedians, executives, representatives, lawyers, Filipinos and our supporters involved in entertainment and media. We were founded in March 2010 under FAN LA (Filipino American Network, Los Angeles) to begin building an organization dedicated to promoting FilAms in the entertainment and media industries and to also use our talents to give back to our community.

“Tayo” is the Tagalog word for “we” or “us,” and “to stand up.” TAYO Arts & Culture is a non-profit community arts organization whose mission is to advance the understanding of the diverse cultural identity of Filipino Americans. With an annually published arts and literary journal, TAYO Literary Magazine, and its monthly online component, along with TAYO readings and events, TAYO Arts & Culture is dedicated to the creation, cultivation and promotion of Filipino-American arts and culture.

About Melissa Sipin

Melissa Sipin is a writer from Carson, California. She was nominated for a Pushcart Prize in 2012 and her writing has been published or is forthcoming in Kweli Journal, Tidal Basin Review, and Kartika Review, among other publications. Melissa was awarded the full-tuition assistantship in narrative writing and community engagement at Mills College and is currently pursuing her MFA in fiction.
